CONCORD, NH – Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) issued the following statement today after Gene Savage, the former vice chancellor and trustee of the University System of New Hampshire, passed away yesterday.

Bass said:

"I had the honor of knowing Gene and his passion for the people of the Granite State. Gene dedicated his life to not only making the University System of New Hampshire a stronger institution, but ensuring students from New Hampshire and everywhere have access to a top-notch higher education. He will be sorely missed, but his contributions will have a lasting impact on our state.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Gene's wife Joan and his entire family during this difficult time."
