Monadnock Regional High School senior's artwork will hang in U.S. Capitol for one year

SWANZEY, NH – Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) today announced that Amanda Lewis of Swanzey is the winner of the Second Congressional District art competition, 'An Artistic Discovery.' Amanda's artwork will hang on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year starting next month with other winning pieces from Congressional districts across the country.

Amanda, a senior at Monadnock Regional High School, won for her oil painting titled, "Beauty Defies Death." The artwork was judged by Ryan Linnehan of Kimball Jenkins School of Art in Concord.

Bass said:

"I congratulate Amanda and all of the students who participated in this year's competition. They should be incredibly proud of their artistic skills and creativity, and I know Granite Staters visiting Washington will enjoy seeing Amanda's winning piece on display in the Capitol."
