WASHINGTON – Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) today issued the following statement after President Obama formally submitted the pending free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea to Congress. House Leadership has indicated that a vote on the pending trade agreements could come as early as next week.

Bass said:

"For too long, action on the pending trade agreements has been stalled due to the Administration's inaction on sending them to Congress. I'm pleased this delay has finally ended and that Congress will be moving forward on these critical bipartisan trade agreements this month.

"With one out of every four jobs in New Hampshire directly benefiting from trade, we cannot afford to allow these job-creating measures to be stalled any longer. They will level the playing field for American businesses sending goods overseas and help to create jobs in New Hampshire and across the nation. I look forward to supporting these measures on the floor next week to help New Hampshire businesses expand their markets and create jobs."

According to the New Hampshire International Trade Resource Center, exports from New Hampshire increased over 44 percent during the first quarter of 2010 compared to 2009, representing the fourth highest growth rate of all U.S. states.
