PITTSFIELD, NH – At a ceremony at Globe Manufacturing Company in Pittsfield this morning, Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) was recognized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) with their "Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence" for his support of pro-growth policies that will help manufacturers in New Hampshire and across the country succeed and create jobs.

NAM is the largest manufacturing association in the United States, representing manufacturers in every industrial sector in every state.

Bass said, "Having built a small business myself, I understand the unique challenges facing small business owners, particularly in this tough economic climate. For the last two years, I have visited numerous manufacturers all over the Second District, from Salem to Lancaster and beyond, and heard firsthand their concerns about how excessive government regulations and taxes, especially those under the new health care law, are crippling their ability to expand and create new jobs. I am committed to making it easier for these companies to grow and am humbled by the National Association of Manufacturers' recognition of my pro-jobs record in Congress."

"Manufacturers today compete in a global marketplace," said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. "It is critical that Washington creates policies to keep us competitive and maintain our mantle of economic leadership. Congressman Bass understands this and has consistently supported the pro-manufacturing agenda through his votes in Congress."

Bass earned a 78 percent ranking from NAM for his support of measures to protect manufacturers and make it easier for them to grow, including: repealing the new health care law; repealing the burdensome tax paperwork requirement under the new health care law; supporting free trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea, and Panama; and supporting legislation to reduce regulatory burdens on small businesses, among other bills.
