Everyone agrees that our health care system needs to be reformed. Health care in America is too expensive and too many Texas families are worried about losing or have already lost their health coverage. Having raised my children as a single mother, I know how difficult it can be to afford the health care that your children need. I worked hard for many years to support my elderly mother and my children. I was working three jobs to support my family. As a mother and a grandmother, I understand the importance of knowing that your family has access to affordable and hassle-free health care.

Health care is expensive, and costs keep rising - year after year. Businesses, small and large alike, are struggling to provide health insurance for their employees, and too many are being forced to ask employees to share the costs of higher premiums and co-payments in response.

We need to find fiscally responsible ways to expand access to affordable health care, and in doing so we need to be sure we are giving individuals and doctors control over making decisions about health care - not the government.
