The U.S. Department of State has issued new traveling requirements under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. Those traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean region are now required to present a passport. A passport will not be required for land and sea travel to these regions until June 1, 2009.

Routine applications are being processed in less than six weeks. Visit the State Department’s website to check the status of your passport application. You can also expedite your service to three weeks for an additional charge by calling the National Passport Information Center (NPIC) at 877-487-2778.
