Washington is out of touch with the American people. All trust has been lost. People do not believe that Washington can fix our economic problems. As families and local governments are forced to cut back, the liberals in Washington spend money we do not have. While a true stimulus plan is needed to jump-start our economy, we cannot spend our way into prosperity or borrow our way out of debt.

This massive spending bill adds a mountain of new debt without incentives for job creation. Unfortunately, the Democrat stimulus bill passed the House 246 to 183. An alternative plan I supported would have created twice as many jobs at a fraction of the cost by focusing on fast-acting tax relief for those who drive our economy: families, small businesses and entrepreneurs.
