BILL TO SUPPORT
NATIONAL BIKE MONTH PASSES HOUSE

Washington, DCA bill in support of a national bike month and in appreciation of those promoting the safety and health benefits of cycling passed the House today, announced Congressman Vic Snyder.

“Arkansas has a significant and increasing number of cycling enthusiasts,” Congressman Vic Snyder said. “With the scheduled completion of the Big Dam Bridge and the 100-mile bicycle ride this fall, Arkansas is likely going to attract more local and national cycling interest.”

House Concurrent Resolution 145 was introduced by Rep. Earl Blumenauer of Oregon.  Congressman Snyder served as a cosponsor.  The bill supports the observation of May as national bike month in order to educate Americans about the importance of bicycle safety and the health, transportation, recreational, and environmental benefits derived from cycling. The bill also salutes the more than 57 million cyclists in the United States and the national and community organizations, individuals, volunteers, and professionals associated with cycling for promoting bicycle safety and the benefits of cycling.
