SNYDER REQUESTS ENTRIES FOR CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION
An Artistic Discovery: The 2010 Congressional Art Competition for high school students

Little Rock, AR – U. S. Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) announced today the kick-off of An Artistic Discovery, the annual Congressional Art Competition for high school students from the second congressional district of Arkansas.

Each year the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors the Congressional Art Competition.  Students compete in a regional contest, and the overall winning piece of art from each district is displayed in a national exhibit located along a pedestrian walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol.

High school students who live in the second congressional district are eligible for the competition.  The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Department of Art will administer and judge the second district competition. The winner will receive free airline travel to attend a Washington D.C. reception on Wednesday, June 17, 2010, as well as complimentary custom framing from a local professional.  Entries not chosen as the winner will be featured in a monthly exhibit at UALR.

In order to be eligible to win, the submitted piece may not be larger than 30"x30"x4 (30 inches high, 30 inches wide, and 4 inches deep) including the frame, if any.  Entries do not have to be framed.

Entries may be hand delivered or mailed to:  Mr. Brad Cushman, Gallery Director, c/o UALR Art Department, Fine Arts Building, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock, AR 72204.  Entries may be dropped off at UALR on Thursday, May 6th and Friday, May 7th between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  The deadline for submission of artwork for the competition is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7th, 2010.
