Congressman John T. Salazar, Third District of Colorado

About the Third District

Colorado’s Third Congressional District is one of the largest and most diverse in the nation. Spanning 29 counties from Southeastern Colorado to the Northwest Corner of the state, district residents come from a wide-variety of backgrounds and lifestyles.

Rural values of hard work, honesty and integrity are engrained into everyday life for Third District Coloradans. They make their livelihoods from many different industries including agriculture, tourism and resource development.

The Third District is undergoing an evolution in identity as are many other rural regions of our great nation. Residents, businesses, and local leaders are faced with the question of how to enter the global economy while keeping families on farms and in business.

No matter the difference in geography or background, Third District residents are bonded by concerns over numerous issues including the responsible management of water resources and ensuring access to affordable health care.
