Salazar Calls for Emergency Funding for Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman John T. Salazar (CO-3) released the following statement today regarding consideration of a $10 billion emergency funding bill for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s disaster relief efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to consider the funding bill by a voice vote tomorrow, Friday afternoon.
“I pray for all of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In the wake of this disaster, we grieve as one American family. But we will come together, roll up our sleeves, and help our neighbors in this time of need.
“Americans have already proven their generous spirit with personal offers of support and aid. Congress must step in and provide the funds needed to restore these devastated communities. With thousands of American lives at stake, we must move forward quickly, efficiently, and in a bipartisan way.
“Our faith and determination will see us through these hard times.”
