Congressman Salazar announces $ 225,000 in federal funding to rehabilitate Perry Stokes Airport runway

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman John Salazar announced that $ 225,000 in federal funding has been allocated for the rehabilitation of Perry Stokes Airport runway. This grant provides funding for rehabilitation of Runway 3/21 on Perry Stokes Airport, Trinidad, Colorado. The pavement maintenance, including re-marking on Runway 3/21 (phase I) will extend the useful life of the pavement and thereby preserve the capacity of the airport.

On this funding, Congressman Salazar offered the following statement:

“These funds will help make needed repairs at the Perry Stokes Airport so the facility can maintain its commitment to airport safety,” said Congressman Salazar. “As a pilot I’m well aware of the need to develop our rural air service infrastructure. I’m glad to support this effort and I will continue to support efforts to maintain the safety of our transportation system and create jobs.”

Las Animas County Deputy Administrator Leslee Fresquez offered the following comment on this funding:

"This funding is essential to Las Animas County's ongoing efforts to maintain the Perry Stokes Airport runway surface. This contribution by the FAA is invaluable to Las Animas County's continuing effort to ensure airport patron safety."
