Congressman Salazar calls on health insurers to reverse decision on child-only plans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Salazar offered the following comment upon hearing the news that some Colorado based health insurers may drop child-only health plans:

“It is completely unacceptable for health insurance companies to stop selling child-only plans and I call on them to reconsider their morally questionable decision.   

“The insurance industry came forward during the health care reform debate and pledged to cover children with pre-existing conditions. Now they are breaking their word by writing new policies and leaving children without health care coverage when they need it most.  When the health care bill is fully implemented these shenanigans will be a thing of the past.”
