Congressman Salazar urges 1-year extension of tax cuts

“Now is not the time to raise taxes, especially on farmers, ranchers, and small business owners.”

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman John T. Salazar today called for a 1-year extension of the tax cuts before Congress adjourns this fall.  The Congressman was joined by 30 of his colleagues in the effort.

Congressman Salazar offered the following comments on his support for extending the tax cuts:

“Now is not the time to raise taxes, especially on farmers, ranchers, and small business owners.  That’s why I believe we need to extend tax cuts for one year, so Coloradans can get back on their feet.  These tax cuts will help keep our economy moving forward and give families and small businesses the confidence and stability they need during a recovering economy.

“The President’s Fiscal Commission is expected to report to Congress in the next several months on their bipartisan recommendations to reduce our country’s debt.  That’s why I want to extend tax cuts for one year.  It will allow our economy to continue to recover and give Congress a clearer picture of our fiscal situation before Congress takes any more action.”
