Salazar announces $155,526 grant to expand operations at Meeker Airport

Washington, D.C. – Congressman John Salazar today announced a grant of $155,526 to help expand services at the Meeker Airport. This grant will provide funding to relocate the Automated Surveillance Observation System (ASOS) and the segmented circle at the Meeker Airport, Meeker, Colorado. The existing ASOS and segmented circle are located on the east side of Runway 3/21 and impede airport development, such as aircraft apron expansion and hangar development. The relocation will provide the airport an opportunity to continue development on the east side.
“This funding will help the Meeker Airport expand its operations and its ability to provide safe and efficient air service for residents and pilots in and around Rio Blanco County,” said Congressman Salazar. “I am proud to have supported these efforts and I will continue to work to provide necessary funding for projects that will improve our infrastructure and strengthen our economy.”
For information on this project please contact Mr. Patrick Hooker, County Administrator, Rio Blanco County, Colorado, (970) 878-9436.
