Congressman Salazar to Serve on Energy & Water and Military Construction & Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittees

Washington, DC – Congressman John Salazar announced today his subcommittee assignments for the House Committee on Appropriations.  Salazar will sit on the Energy and Water Development Subcommittee and the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee.
“I am excited to get to work.  These are two critical assignments for the State of Colorado and the Third Congressional District,” said Congressman Salazar.  “On Energy and Water, I plan to focus on rebuilding the aging water infrastructure to continue to preserve and protect the water of the Mountain West.  Military Construction and Veterans Affairs will allow me to continue my fight for Colorado veterans, including veterans’ facilities throughout the Third District and the Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver.”
The Energy and Water Subcommittee has jurisdiction for the Department of Energy, the Army Corp of Engineers, and the Bureau of Reclamation.  The Subcommittee Chairman is Congressman Peter Visclosky from Indiana.
The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee has jurisdiction for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense, including Military Construction for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Reserves, Chemical Demilitarization Construction, and military housing and land acquisition.  The Subcommittee Chairman is Congressman Chet Edwards from Texas.
