WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. John Salazar, the only veteran in the Colorado Congressional delegation, and member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the nomination of Lieutenant General James B. Peake (Ret. USA) for the Secretary of Veterans Affairs:
“Today’s nomination of LTG James B. Peake is an important step in restoring leadership to a department that has been riddled with controversy surrounding the provision of healthcare to veterans and the timely processing of disability claims.”
“As a Vietnam veteran and physician, LTG Peake will bring an outstanding perspective on the quality of care the VA must provide. I look forward to meeting with LTG Peake to discuss his vision for the future of the VA, should he be confirmed.”
