SALAZAR ANNOUNCES SAN LUIS VALLEY STAFF ADDITION

Washington, DC – Congressman John Salazar today announced changes to his District staff.  Erin Minks will serve as Regional Director of the San Luis Valley.

Erin Minks is joining Congressman John Salazar’s team after serving for three years as a community liaison for United States Senator Ken Salazar.  While there, she handled a portfolio of issues including housing, labor, natural resources, water, agriculture, federal grants and appropriations, as well as outreach to Clear Creek, Gilpin and Boulder Counties. Prior to her work in the Senate, she worked as Ken Salazar’s field coordinator for Boulder and Broomfield Counties during his 2004 US Senate campaign.

Erin previously spent four years in the San Luis Valley, where she worked as a bilingual volunteer at La Puente Home emergency shelter through the VIDA program; helped establish Milagros Coffeehouse through the Americorps VISTA program; volunteered for the Victim-Offender Reconciliation Program and for KRZA community radio. She left the Valley in 2000 to attend Vermont Law School, where she focused on immigration and federal natural resource law, and graduated with a JD in 2003. During law school, she returned to the San Luis Valley as an intern for the Migrant Worker Division of Colorado Legal Services. She also interned in immigration court in Florence, Arizona through the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project. Erin also earned a Bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado at Boulder.

“I’m exited to have Erin back in the San Luis Valley.  She is a valuable addition to the community and is dedicated to serving the people of Colorado and the Third Congressional District,” said Rep. Salazar.
