Salazar Announces Winner of Congressional Art Competition
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman John T. Salazar announced the winner from the Third District of Colorado in the 2008 Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery. Alexandra Martinez, a rising junior at Pueblo West High School, won with her mixed media entry titled “Holding Tight.”
The annual competition allows each congressional district to select a piece to be displayed in the tunnel leading into the U.S. Capitol from the House of Representatives office buildings. It is open to all high school students. The 2008 winning entries will be on display for one year.
“I am proud of Alexandra for achieving national recognition for her talent, and know that her future is bright. She should be honored to be representing the district in this special competition,” Rep. Salazar said.
