Congressman Salazar announces $403,275
in federal funding to upgrade the Gunnison County Emergency Operations Center

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman John Salazar announced that $403,275 in funding has been allocated to upgrade the Gunnison County Emergency Operations Center. The grant is designed to support the construction or renovation of emergency operations centers to improve state, local or tribal emergency management and preparedness capabilities to ensure continuity of operations during disasters.

Today, Congressman Salazar offered the following comment on the funding:

“The key to successful emergency response is an organized, effective communications and operations hub. Gunnison County has worked over the years to develop its emergency response system and hopefully this will help Scott Morrill and the county’s emergency management team continue their mission of providing state-of-the-art emergency response in Gunnison County.”
On the funding, Gunnison County Emergency Manager Scott Morrill offered the following comment:

“It’s entirely likely that this project would not have happened without these funds. We’re very grateful for this funding. It is going to help with a critical piece of the public safety puzzle and will allow us to move the emergency operations center to a much safer, much more secure location. We appreciate all the support that we’ve gotten on this project.”
