Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman John Salazar announced that $171,000 in federal funding has been allocated for rehabilitation, improvements and upgrades to the Durango-La Plata County airport. Specifically, this funding will go toward rehabilitating the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Vehicle Service Road at the airport. The existing service road has deteriorated and shows signs of wear. Rehabilitation of the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Vehicle Service Road will extend the useful life of the pavement. Congressman Salazar offered the following statement on the project: “These funds will help repair a crucial safety link at the Durango-La Plata County Airport so the facility can maintain its commitment to airport safety,” said Congressman Salazar. “As a pilot I’m well aware of the need to keep emergency response systems state-of-the-art. I’m glad to support this effort and I will continue to support efforts to maintain the safety of our infrastructure and create jobs.”
