Congressman Salazar will introduce bipartisan legislation in the House tomorrow to mandate that renewable fuels make up 10 percent of all gasoline sold in the United States by 2010. "We cannot be dependent on foreign oil or just on fossil fuels. Agriculture is already the backbone of our economy. Making agriculture a real part of our energy supply not only lessens our dependence on fossil fuel, but provides jobs for rural Americans. "We call this the '10 by 10' plan - America has the ingenuity to reach this goal. We’re a resourceful people and were meant to be independent."
Salazar is actively seeking to bring together farmers and energy interests to encourage the development of bio-diesel and ethanol plants throughout the Third Congressional district.
