Congressman John T. Salazar, Third District of Colorado

Issue: Transportation

As the only Coloradan on the powerful House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee from 2004-2008, John Salazar fought to secure critically needed transportation dollars for the Third Congressional District. John believes that infrastructure improvement is vital to economic development and the sustainability of rural America.

As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, John Salazar was instrumental in securing one of the highest percentage funding increases for Colorado under the new federal transportation law, SAFETEA-LU.

As a pilot and a farmer, John’s interest and expertise were utilized on the Subcommittee on Aviation and Subcommittee on Water Resources. He fought to improve aviation safety, improve rural airports, and strengthen rural air service. John supports the expansion of rural airports and programs like the Essential Air Service Program (EAS), which greatly benefits underserved rural communities.

John firmly believes that water is the lifeblood of rural America and focuses on Colorado’s 3rd District in the Subcommittee on Water Resources. Clean and safe drinking water should be a national priority for all Americans—as it is for all Coloradans—and John continues to be committed to ensuring that we preserve and protect it for today and future generations.
