As U.S. military operations continue to Iraq with American troops using critical military equipment from Fort Monmouth, Governor James E. McGreevey and U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Jr. and Rush Holt will tour Fort Monmouth Monday, November 10. The three lawmakers will be briefed by military personnel on the Fort ’s mission in Iraq and will view a demonstration of military equipment similar to that now being used by soldiers in Iraq that came from the facility. Governor McGreevey also plans to designate Fort Monmouth as the New Jersey Center for Homeland Defense Technologies and Security Readiness.

This event is open to the media. However, access to Fort Monmouth is established by Department of Defense policy. Media will enter Fort Monmouth only with a designated escort. For access, please follow these procedures:
Arrive at the Gibbs Hall parking at 10 a.m. Arrivals later than 10:15 a.m. (directions below) may not gain access to the installation.
Bring NJ Press Credentials a nd Driver's License.
Remain in the vicinity of the escort or designated areas at all times.
** DIRECTIONS **
Take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 105, Rt 36.
Move immediately to the right lane as you exit, proceed through the jug handle onto Hope Road. After you go through the intersection, Applebees restaurant will be on your left.
Turn right on the second light, Tinton Falls Avenue. On the right is a golf course. After about 300 yards you will see an entrance to Gibbs Hall in the Golf Course area.
Turn Right into the Gibbs Hall Entrance and enter the parking lot on the immediate left. Mr. Timothy Rider (Cell # 908-309-4460) will be there to assist you. |
