 PALLONE: HOUSE APPROVES FUNDING

FOR MONMOUTH MEDICAL CENTER

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced today that the U.S. House of Representatives approved a Fiscal Year (FY) 2010 Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill that includes his request for $400,000 for Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

The funds will be used to expand and enhance Monmouth Medical Center's Emergency Department and improve the delivery of emergency services to a community with a substantial underserved population through sophisticated information technology components.

The emergency department expansion will include a sophisticated suite of health information technology that will improve quality of care by making a patient’s information available, allowing more personalized care and avoiding errors. By delivering the right care at the right time to meet the patient's needs, this project will serve as a national model for others.

"The expansion of Monmouth Medical's emergency department strongly supports the federal goal of using health information technology to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of our national health care system," Pallone said. "I am pleased the House approved funding for this important project so we can ensure the best quality of care for patients."
