PALLONE STATEMENT ON DEMOCRATS TAKING

CONTROL OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today as the 110th Congress convened under Democratic leadership for the first time in 12 years.

"Today marked the beginning of a new day in the House of Representatives; one where the voices of all Americans will be heard not just the voices of the special interests.  Last November, the American people demanded change, and that change comes today in Washington.

"Over the next couple of weeks, Democrats will deliver on their promise to provide much needed relief to college students, seniors and millions of minimum wage workers, while providing better protection for our homeland.  It is my hope that the entire Congress----Republican and Democratic member alike----can come together and support these important initiatives over the next 100 legislative hours."
