PALLONE STATEMENT ON HURRICANE KATRINA

Long Branch, N.J. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement on the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Thousands of families have lost loved ones, homes and, in some cases, their entire communities.

"The communities impacted in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida will face untold challenges to rebuild.  It is critical that when Congress comes back into session next week, our first priority be the passage of a disaster relief package for the affected areas.

"The people of the 6th Congressional district know firsthand the damaging impact a hurricane can have on a coastal community.  We have seen the generosity and outpouring of support from our own communities when disaster strikes.  Now we as a nation must come to the aid of those in Katrina's path.

"I urge the residents of the 6th Congressional district to help support the relief efforts in anyway they can."
