Pallone Statement on Senate's Action on Health Reform |

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr., Chair of the Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee and one of the authors of the health reform plan already approved by the House, issued the following statement on Monday following the early morning vote in the Senate that signaled approval of the Senate plan:
"I welcome the agreement in the Senate that signals approval of its health reform bill. I know how much hard work and compromise was needed to secure 60 votes. The cynics and skeptics said we would not reach this point, but we proved them wrong.
"I don't expect the House to just accept 'as is' the bill from the Senate. There are differences that need to be ironed out, but that is part of the congressional process.
"We must balance out the two plans in a way that respects the will of both houses and that serves the best needs of the American people." |
