Pallone on the COLA Adjustment for Seniors

Washington, DC – Congressman Pallone (NJ-06) released the following statement Friday in light of the Social Security Administration’s announcement there will be no automatic Cost-of-Living-Adjustment for 2011.
“It’s very unfortunate that for the second year in a row, seniors will not see a Cost of Living adjustment in 2011. I know that for many people, especially our seniors, it has been more difficult to pay for groceries, utilities and other daily expenses during these economic times. That is why I support a plan to give seniors a $250 check to make up for their lack of a COLA increase, as we did last year. When Congress returns after the election, I will do everything in my power to see that the House of Representative will take this critical vote.”
