Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-6) Wednesday will speak at the United We Fish fisherman’s rally, organized by fishermen advocacy organizations nation-wide. Approximately 3,000 commercial and recreational fishermen from states along the Atlantic coast will attend the rally in support of the Flexibility in Rebuilding American Fisheries Act of 2009, sponsored by Rep. Pallone.
“Tomorrow’s rally is a display of the important role that fishermen play in how our government runs,” said Pallone. “Managing our nation’s fisheries has been and will continue to be a challenging process because of the mix of science and public policy involved. I will continue to be an advocate for fisherman’s rights and look forward to tackling these issues in Congress.”
Other featured speakers will include Senators Schumer, Lemieux, and Gillibrand as well as Representatives Adler and LoBiondo.
Date: Wednesday, February 24, 2010 Time: 12:00 p.m. until 3 p.m. Location: Upper Senate Park (intersection of Delaware Ave., NE and Constitution Ave., NW)
