Emerson: New Pioneer Seed Facility Shows Strengths of Region in Attracting New Businesses  – March 04, 2010
WASHINGTON   –  U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) expressed excitement and enthusiasm for a new business deal expected to bring 50 jobs in the form of a $55 million project to New Madrid County over the next two years in the form of a soybean seed production facility in the Eighth Congressional District.

“Every opportunity we have to bring new economic activity to Southern Missouri is a great chance to talk about our skilled, quality workforce and our commitment to innovation.  Certainly, we are doing groundbreaking work in agricultural research in our part of the state, and this announcement will bolster our reputation for being on the cutting edge of growth in the field,” Emerson said. “Many state and local leaders worked hard on this effort, and this announcement by Pioneer is a testament to how hard we are working to bring new opportunities to Missouri – especially at the Department of Economic Development and at the Missouri Technology Corporation.”

Construction on the Pioneer commercial and parent soybean seed production facility is expected to begin in the spring and to be completed by fall of 2011.
