Congressman Lincoln Davis, TVA Congressional Caucus Discuss Kingston Fossil Plant Ash Spill with TVA OfficialsJanuary 8, 2009

Today, Congressman Lincoln Davis joined colleagues of the TVA Congressional Caucus in Washington, D.C. for a meeting with TVA President and CEO Tom Kilgore to discuss the Dec. 22nd retention pond failure at the Kingston Fossil Plant. The TVA Congressional Caucus is made up of members of Congress who represent states served by the utility.

"The failure of the dikes around the ash-retention pond has caused unbelievable damage," said Davis, who toured the site by helicopter on December 30th. "I've been in contact with TVA officials on the ground throughout this process making it known that I expect them to go above and beyond with my constituents who've been harmed and to be open with the public about current activities and future plans."

In a separate meeting yesterday, Congressman Davis met with Kingston residents in Washington, D.C. During the meeting Congressman Davis said that he will do everything he can to see that full and complete restitution will be paid out to his constituents who have been affected by this failure.
