Davis Announces ARC Grant for Scott County Child Development Center September 28, 2004

-- U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis today announced a $500,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to Scott County to assist in the construction of the Scott County Child Development Center.

"The lack of access to affordable child care is a problem most families living in rural areas deal with," Davis said. "I am very pleased to see the ARC working with our communities to correct this problem."

The 10,000 square foot facility will accommodate approximately 200 children ranging from six months to seventeen years of age. The primary use of the center will be for day care for children six weeks to five years old, but will also be used for youth development programs. The center will be located in South Oneida, adjacent to the Boys and Girls Club of Scott County. Local sources will contribute $250,000 for a total project cost of $750,000.
