DOL Announces Grant Opportunities

Tuesday, July 21, ecretary Solis announced the solicitation for grant applications (SGAs) of $220 million to teach workers the necessary skills for, and help them pursue careers in, health care and other high growth and emerging industry sectors.  These grants will promote economic recovery by supporting the training needs of workers and employers in health care and high growth and emerging industries and assist individuals impacted by the recession by providing training and placement into employment.  Efforts will lead program participants to job placement while leveraging other Recovery Act investments intended to create jobs and promote economic growth.  Grants awarded through this competition will be funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act).  A fact sheet detailing the SGA, including the deadline for applications, eligible activities and eligible applicants, is available below.
