Holidays for our Heroes

As the holidays approach, it is important that we remember to support our servicemembers. December is a particularly difficult time for many of our men and women in uniform who are away from their families and friends; some are in far away lands putting themselves in harm’s way to defend our freedom.  I encourage you all to thank these brave men and women by sending them electronic messages, sponsoring a care package, and keeping both our servicemembers and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Please visit the following websites for specific instructions on how to support our troops:

The US Postal Service is urging those wishing to mail holiday packages to the troops in Iraq to plan ahead.  First-class letters and cards should be sent in early December and Express Mail Military Service packages by December 18 to arrive by Christmas Day.  In addition, mail sent to overseas military addresses is charged domestic mail prices only. Friends and family can mail a large Priority Mail flat-rate box to service members at a discounted rate of $12.50.
