Tour Summary: The Bureau is responsible for the printing and designing the nation's currency, U.S. postal stamps, official invitations, and ID cards. The tour features various steps of currency production, beginning with large, blank sheets of paper, and ending with wallet-ready bills.

Availability:

  • September through April: 8:15 am and 8:45 am Monday through Friday (excluding federal holidays)
  • May through August: 8:14 am, 8:45 am, 4:00 pm, 4:15 pm, 4:30 pm, and 4:45 pm (excluding federal holidays)

Tour Request Deadline: At least 3 weeks before the desired tour date. Tours may be requested up to 6 months in advance. (I encourage you to submit your request as early as possible since a limited number of tours are available and tours are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.)

Restrictions: Tour groups may not exceed 10 people

Public tours

Availability:

  • March through August: 9:00 am to 10:45 am and 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday (excluding federal holidays)
  • May through August: additional tours are available from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday
  • September through February: every 15 minutes from 9:00 am to 10:45 am and 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday

Procedures:

  • March through August: Free, timed tickets are required for entry. You may obtain same-day tickets by visiting the ticket booth located at Raoul Wallenberg Place. The ticket booth opens at 8:00 am Monday through Friday and closes when all tickets have been distributed. Note: Lines form early and tickets go quickly; most days' tickets are gone by 9:00 am.
  • September through February: No tickets are required. Simply line up at the visitor entrance on 14th Street.
