Congresswoman Bordallo Issues Statement on U.S. Attorney Leonardo Rapadas

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo issued the following statement regarding U.S. Attorney Leonardo Rapadas’ tenure and service as U.S. Attorney for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

“I would like to commend U.S. Attorney Leonardo Rapadas for his dedicated service to our islands and its law enforcement community since 2003.  Mr. Rapadas’ appointment and confirmation as the first Filipino American U.S. Attorney for our region broke a glass ceiling that existed from the very beginning of that office.  Mr. Rapadas has served with distinction and his efforts and initiatives while in office will continue to benefit our community for many years.  On behalf of our people, our island and the region, I extend a sincere thank you, dangkulo na Si Yu’os Ma’ase and Maraming Salamat Po to Leonardo.  We all offer him our best wishes in whatever endeavor he pursues.”

“The nomination and confirmation of Alicia G. Limtiaco is also historic and breaks another glass ceiling as the first Chamorro woman to be appointed and confirmed U.S. Attorney for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.  Together with the appointment and confirmation of Chief Judge Frances Tydingco Gatewood, Alicia continues the ascendency of women to positions of leadership in our region.  I look forward to working with Attorney Limtiaco on issues and projects which will produce great benefits for our people and our region.”
