Guam Student Appointed to West Point

 

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that Guam resident Michael Anthony Tougher IV has been appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.  Michael is a 2010 graduate of Guam High School and will join the class of 2014 at the United States Military Academy.  Michael is the son of Michael Tougher III and Wendy Tougher from the village of Maite.  He was nominated to West Point by Congresswoman Bordallo. 

Michael is a Cadet Executive Officer in the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and is actively involved with numerous community service projects on Guam.  At Guam High School, Michael competed in varsity cross country, varsity wrestling, and varsity track and served as captain of the Guam High School wrestling and cross country teams. 

“I congratulate Michael on his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point,” Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo said today. “Michael is a well rounded, highly motivated student and he is prepared for the challenges of West Point.  Michael has a strong desire to serve our country and I look forward to his contributions to the U.S. Army and our nation.”
