Congresswoman Bordallo Meets with U.S. Senator Jim Webb

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo, today, met with U.S. Senator Jim Webb of Virginia during a meeting at Congresswoman Bordallo’s district office. Senator Webb serves as Chairman of the East Asia & Pacific Affairs Subcommittee in the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and is a member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services.

“During today’s meeting, I shared my concerns regarding the deficiencies of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement with Senator Webb,” Congresswoman Bordallo said today. “Senator Webb understands the sensitivity of the issue of eminent domain and he will work with me in Congress to ensurethat this is not an action the Department of Defense will pursue.  I also informed him of our work on the Guam War Claims issue and I asked him for whatever help he can provide in this year’s Defense Authorization bill. Senator Webb is a friend of Guam and very familiar with the importance of land for the people of Guam as he raised these issues in his book, Micronesia and U.S. Pacific Strategy: A Blueprint for the 1980’s.”
