President Obama Nominates Frank Leon Guerrero for U.S. Marshal for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that Frank Leon Guerrero has been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as the United States Marshal for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.  The White House transmitted the nomination earlier today to the U.S. Senate where nominations must be confirmed. Congresswoman Bordallo supports President Obama’s nomination of Frank Leon Guerrero as the next U.S. Marshal for our island.

Mr. Frank Leon Guerrero currently serves as the Chief Marshal of the Judiciary of Guam having been appointed by the Chief Justice in September of 2006.  He is responsible for providing leadership and supervision of the Deputy Marshals, protecting the Justices and the Judges of the Court, executing Court warrants, and ensuring the safety of all those working in and visiting the Guam Judicial Center.  Prior to his current position, Mr. Leon Guerrero served 25 years with the Guam Police Department, where ten years of his service were in a management and supervisory role. He retired as a Major.  Mr. Leon Guerrero attended the University of Guam and has completed training courses at the FBI National Training Center, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the National Judicial College.  Mr. Leon Guerrero has been active in educating the next generation of public safety officials by serving as an instructor with the Guam Community College’s Criminal Justice program.

“Frank Leon Guerrero has served 25 years in the Guam Police Department and four years as the Chief Marshall of Guam Judiciary.  He is a very qualified nominee for the position of U.S. Marshall for Guam and the Northern Marianas,” Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo said today. “President Barack Obama has nominated a highly professional law enforcement officer who has the ability to provide support for the federal courts and who can work with other federal and local law enforcement agencies.  I congratulate Frank on his nomination and I look forward to supporting him during his Senate confirmation.”
