ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE CHAIR - Pursuant to section 9 of H.Res.
976, 111th Congress, the Chair announced that no
organizational or legislative business is transacted on this
day. The Chair further announced that bills and resolutions
introduced today will be numbered today but would not be
noted in the Record or referred until January 12, 2010.

ADJUSTMENT OF WHOLE HOUSE - Under Clause 5(d) of Rule XX,
the Chair announced that, in light of the resignation of the
gentleman from Florida, Mr. Wexler, the whole number of the
House is 434.
The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the
permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of
the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the
House that she had received a message from the Secretary of
the Senate on December 24, 2009, at 10:56 a.m. stating that
that body had passed

with amendments.

permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of
the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the
House that she had received a message from the Secretary of

that body had agreed to H.Con.Res. 223.
The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the
