PAUL TO MEET WITH EL CAMPO GUN OWNERS

Freeport, Texas: Congressman Ron Paul will attend a reception Friday honoring 13 area men who endured quite an ordeal during a hunting trip to Mexico last September. The hunters crossed the Mexican border at Reynosa in Tamaulipas before being detained at a checkpoint 25 miles later. They were wrongly held for more than 48 hours, and their vehicles, shotguns, and ammunition were confiscated. Fortunately, the men were able to contact attorneys in Houston by cell phone, who ultimately secured their release.

The hunting group included El Campo mayor Kenneth Martin and El Campo attorney James Bouligny, along with eleven others from El Campo, Columbus, Bay City, and Houston. Mr. Bouligny worked very hard over the ensuing months to secure the return of the group’s property.

Paul aide Dianna Gilbert also was instrumental in resolving the matter. She traveled to Mexico twice and spend countless hours on the phone dealing with Mexican officials. Congratulations are in order for everyone involved!

After months of negotiations with Mexican officials, the men finally had all of their guns and ammunition returned. The reception is being held to celebrate the end of a six month fight, and to champion the gun rights we still enjoy in America.

The public is welcome. The reception will be held at the El Campo office of attorney James Bouligny, 207 West Jackson, at 9:00 AM Friday, March 22nd.
