Forbes, Sallie Mae Fund Announce

Free "Paying for College" Workshop in Chesapeake

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Area high school students are invited to attend a free workshop hosted by the Sallie Mae Fund on planning and paying for college, to be held on Saturday, June 24, 2006 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) will kick-off the event. Two high school students will win $500 scholarships toward the cost of a higher education.

Congressman Randy Forbes, college-bound students and their families and financial aid experts from the Sallie Mae Fund

 

WHAT:

Paying for College, a free workshop for high school students and their parents on planning and paying for college presented by The Sallie Mae Fund, in partnership with the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

 

WHEN:

Saturday, June 24, 2006 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

WHY:

To explain the benefits of continuing an education beyond high school; the affordability of college through various types of financial aid (e.g., grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans); and the resources available to help families prepare for the college admissions process.
