Congressman Forbes is hosting an Online Safety Forum to be held at The Lifestyle Center at the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, May 27th at 7:00 p.m.  The Online Safety Forum is free and open to any individual in the Fourth District who is interested in gaining information and tips on how parents can best protect their children online.   

WHO:

Congressman Randy Forbes, all interested constituents in the Fourth District, a representative from the Virginia Attorney’s General Office, a local official from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, a representative from the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and testimony from a victim of an online predator.

 

WHAT:

“Online Safety Forum.” An interactive, hands-on forum to discuss online safety and ways to prevent becoming a victim of an online predator.  Experts from organizations who specialize in online safety for children will be on hand to walk parents through “real-life” situations and specific examples of what children have access to while online, as well as tips for keeping them safe.  The forum will also feature testimony of a victim of an online predator who will share her experience.  

 

WHEN:

Wednesday, May 27th at 7:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.  Check-in will begin at 6:45 p.m.

To ensure an adequate amount of resources are available for our participants, RSVPs are required for this event.

 Directions to the Lifestyle Center:

From Chesapeake:
Travel northeast on Johnstown Road toward Battlefield Boulevard
Continue until you reach Battlefield Boulevard and make a left
Continue until you reach Knells Ridge Road and make a left
The hospital will be on your right, the Lifestyle Center is on the far right wing of the hospital

From Suffolk:
Travel southeast in East Washington Street towards North Main Street
Continue until you reach Portsmouth Boulevard and make a right
Take I-64 ramp to Portsmouth/Norfolk
There will be a fork, keep left and merge onto I-664 South
Continue on I-64 West until you reach exit 290 B
Take exit 290 B towards Great Bridge
Merge onto Battlefield Boulevard North
Continue until you reach Knells Ridge Drive and make a right
The hospital will be on your left and the Lifestyle Center is in the far right wing of the hospital

From Norfolk:
Travel west on Virginia Beach Boulevard towards Tidewater Drive
Continue until you reach Tidewater Drive and make a left
Make a slight left at Tidewater Drive (there will be signs for Portsmouth/I-264/Waterside Drive)
Merge onto I-264 and travel towards Portsmouth
Make a slight right at I-464 South (there will be signs for Chesapeake/I-464)
Continue to travel on Chesapeake Expressway until you reach exit 13A
Merge onto Battlefield Boulevard North
Continue until you reach Knells Ridge Drive and make a left
The hospital will be on your right and the Lifestyle center is on the far right wing of the hospital
