Rogers Announces $6 Million
USDA Loan & Grant for
Randolph Water Expansion
Will Upgrade and Expand Local Water Infrastructure

Washington, DC  -  Congressman Mike Rogers congratulated the citizens of Randolph County today for receiving a $5 million loan and $1 million grant to upgrade and expand the county’s water supply system. The $6 million loan and grant, which is administered by USDA Rural Development, will bring water service to approximately 1,200 residents that currently do not have county water service.

“A modern and efficient water system is critical to the economic development of Randolph County,” Rogers said. “I am pleased to have helped secure these funds, and hope they help lay the foundation for new jobs and increased growth for local businesses and citizens.”

The Randolph County WS&FPA will use these federal funds to expand their existing water system to serve an additional 400 households, allowing these residents to connect to a safer and more reliable source of water. Rogers said the Authority currently serves over 1,450 customers. Calvin Weaver is Chairman of the Randolph County Water, Sewer, and Fire Protection Authority.

“These funds represent President Bush’s continued commitment to ensure that rural Alabama has the necessary infrastructure to provide clean, safe and affordable drinking water to local citizens and provide additional opportunities for economic development,” said Steve Pelham, State Director of USDA Rural Development.

Rogers added the $6 million check represents a $1 million grant and a $5 million loan from USDA Rural Development.
