WASHINGTON, DC – Ranking Member Darrell Issa (CA-49) today welcomed Congressman Bill Shuster (PA-9) to the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and announced that Rep. Shuster will serve on the Domestic Policy and Federal Workforce Subcommittees.
“From limiting government intervention in the private sector to crafting economic policies that create jobs, Congressman Shuster will bolster the committee’s work delivering the smaller, more transparent and more accountable government taxpayers deserve. I look forward to working with Rep. Shuster to implement his vision of a streamlined federal government that saves more than it spends and allows future generations to live the American dream.”
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has legislative jurisdiction over areas including the District of Columbia, the government procurement process, federal personnel systems, and the Postal Service. The committee’s primary responsibility, however, is oversight and has the authority to investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy implications.
Shuster said: “We are at a critical point in our nation’s history where the size and scope of the federal government is coming dangerously close to tipping our economy and our nation’s future over the edge. We must keep watch over the growth of government, reign in spending and force transparency and accountability on a majority that prefers to draft legislation in secret. I am pleased to be able to join Ranking Member Issa and my fellow Republicans on the committee to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.”
