Washington, DC – House Democratic Leadership announced today that Congressman Al Green (TX-9) is the featured Member this week on the HouseDemocrats.gov web site. The site operates as a clearinghouse that provides information on the views and work of Democratic Members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

“It is an honor to be selected as the featured member. It gives me an opportunity to highlight the 9th Congressional District and the work I’m doing in Congress on behalf of my constituents,” Congressman Green explained.

Green was featured because of his “unique perspective on the gravity of the needs facing the American people” and “genuine dedication to making tangible improvements in the lives of all of his constituents.”

The site also highlights Green’s major legislative accomplishments which include the passage of a measure that would increase funding to curb housing discrimination by 7.7 million dollars. Additionally, the site applauds Green’s efforts to restore the lives of those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
