Rangel Leads Moment of Silence In Honor Former Rep. Steve Solarz

WASHINGTON - Congressman Charles Rangel Tuesday afternoon led a bipartisan moment of a silence for former Brooklyn Congressman Steve Solarz, who passed away on Monday at the age of 70 from esophageal cancer. Rangel was joined in offering condolences on the House floor by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D) and Rep. Peter King (R).

“Mr. Speaker, I soberly report to this body the loss of a great member Congressman Steve Solarz who just left us and passed away at the age of 70 years old,” said Rangel. “He served in this body from 1975 - 1992. Republican or Democrat, he loved this country and fought hard for a sound foreign policy. “
