Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs: Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations concluded a hearing to examine Wall Street and the financial crisis, focusing on the role of bank regulators, after receiving testimony from Eric M. Thorson, Inspector General, and John E. Bowman, Acting Director, Office of Thrift Supervision, both of the Department of the Treasury; Jon T. Rymer, Inspector General, John Corston, Acting Deputy Director, Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection, Complex Financial Institution Branch, George Doerr, Deputy Regional Director, San Francisco Region, and Sheila C. Bair, Chairman, all of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; and John M. Reich, Alexandria, Virginia, Darrel Dochow, Issaquah, Washington, and Lawrence Carter, Washington, D.C., all former employees of the Office of Thrift Supervision, Department of the Treasury.

Committee on the Judiciary: Committee concluded a hearing to examine the nominations of Goodwin Liu, of California, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit, and Kimberly J. Mueller, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of California, who were both introduced by Senator Feinstein, Richard Mark Gergel, and J. Michelle Childs, both to be United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina, who were both introduced by Senator Graham and Representative Clyburn, and Catherine C. Eagles, to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina, after the nominees testified and answered questions in their own behalf.
