Committee to Notify the President of the assembly of the Congress: The House agreed to H. Res. 998, authorizing the Speaker to appoint a committee to join with a committee on the part of the Senate to notify the President when a quorum of each House has assembled, and Congress is ready to receive any communication that he may be pleased to make. Subsequently, the Speaker appointed Majority Leader Hoyer and Minority Leader Boehner to the Committee.

Notifying the Senate That a Quorum of the House Is Present: The House agreed to H. Res. 999, to authorize the Clerk of the House to inform the Senate that a quorum of the House is present and that the House is ready to proceed with business.

Morning Hour Debate: Agreed by unanimous consent that the order of the House of January 6, 2009, providing for Morning Hour Debate, be extended for the remainder of the 111th Congress, except that pursuant to H. Res. 1000, the date of May 17, 2010 shall be used in lieu of May 18, 2009.

Consideration of Presidential Veto Message: Agreed by unanimous consent that if a veto message on H.J. Res. 64 is laid before the House on the legislative day of January 12, 2010, then after the message is read and the objections of the President are spread at large upon the Journal, further consideration of the veto message and the joint resolution shall be postponed until the legislative day of January 13, 2010, and that on that legislative day, the House shall proceed to the constitutional question of reconsideration and dispose of such question without intervening motion.
